Between Black and White... is a Rainbow of Color

GENESIS  4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?

Why the name SOHAM?

SOHAM is a natural mantra for meditation, it is the mantra of our true self. It does not belong to the East or the West, or to any religion. SOHAM is inherent in all of us; it repeats itself continually, along with our breathing. Every time the breath comes in (SO) and goes out (HAM), one repetition of the SOHAM mantra takes place. Whether one is a Buddhist, a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu, a Muslim, or Nothing at all, one repeats this mantra unconsciously thousands of times every day.

Hey Everyone!

DOING THAT WHICH IS RIGHT

To be honest, I only recently discovered this verse in the Bible. I don’t think I have ever heard a sermon on it but, taken just as it is, this verse fits in very well with the philosophy of The Society Of Harmony And Magnanimity.

For most of my life I have looked at people only from a Christian perspective, judging them and their actions by the Truths that I had been taught since early childhood. That was fine as long as I stayed within the confines of my Religion and only associated with those whose beliefs were similar to mine. But once I broke out of that confinement, I discovered that there were many people in this world who believed just as strongly as I did, but in a different set of Truths, and they also did good deeds because of their beliefs. My first response was to say that their beliefs were wrong and mine were right but you don’t make many friends that way and I had a choice of either running back to the safety and isolation of the Fold, or trusting that the GOD I said I believed in was real. In trusting I have discovered that, not only is HE Real, but HE is so much more than I had ever imagined. That realization has allowed me to form deep relationships with people of great integrity who, while different from me in some aspects of belief, are none the less, great people to be around.

The SOCIETY OF HARMONY AND MAGNANIMITY and this web-site are dedicated to all of those people who, at some point in their lifetime, have done that which is right. There is no distinction made as to gender, race, color, or creed. Acceptance is based solely on their generosity of spirit and a commitment to living life in harmony with others. It is my hope that through this web-site interested people will be able to communicate their personal views and reactions to what is written, in a sincere and searching discussion, so that all who read these pages may grow to have a better awareness of each other’s journeys.

“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?” The words are from GOD, but to conclude from this that HE will look with favor on me or any one else is not my intention. Only time and eternity will reveal GOD’S real plan for us. In the meantime, I have chosen to spend my time with those people who in my mind have done or are doing the right thing in this life. For it is my belief that Life and relationships are meant to be experienced and enjoyed to their fullest and the best way of doing this, is to live in Harmony with all that is around us.

I have a feeling that in the end of time as we now know it, when all things are revealed in their completeness, we will discover that the only differences between Black and White were, like the spectrum of light that radiates from a perfectly cut diamond, the subtle variations in how each of us manifested the many Reflections of GOD.
